About The Scene

by WHRO | The Scene

The arts scene in Hampton Roads is vibrant and multi-layered. On any given day, you can find a mural in progress in Downtown Norfolk, a quirky folk art show on the Peninsula, playful children's displays in public spaces throughout any of the seven cities, and multiple university galleries showcasing a variety of media. Larger institutions like The Chrysler and MOCA display their permanent collections and area galleries all rival the offerings of larger metropolitan areas.

What better topic to focus on with WHRO's newest online endeavor: The Arts. This new community-interest blog, called The Scene covers art in Hampton Roads in a new way. Through the site, we showcase artists and projects that use media and the arts to better the community through beatification and arts appreciation.

The Scene features the work of Hampton Roads' visual artists, musicians and performance art projects, a calendar of local art events and featured artist profiles, showcasing their motivation, inspiration and their great works.
